Heat Resistant Safety Suit

Wear protective clothing:

  • Aluminized suits: These suits are made of a reflective material that can deflect radiant heat. They are often used by firefighters and other workers who are exposed to high temperatures.
  • Cover exposed skin: Wear long sleeves, pants, and a high-collared shirt to protect your skin from heat and flames.
  • Use a heat shield: If you need to approach a heat source, use a heat shield to protect yourself from the radiant heat. A metal pan or sheet of aluminum foil can be used in a pinch.
  • Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated and to help your body regulate its temperature.
  • Avoid alcohol and drugs: Alcohol and drugs can impair your judgment and make it more difficult to react to a dangerous situation.

Firefighter suits are made of heat-resistant fabrics like Nomex or PBI and are designed to protect firefighters from heat and flames. They typically have a reflective coating on the outside to reflect heat away from the body.

Proximity suits are used by workers who need to work near high temperatures, such as in foundries or steel mills. They are made of heat-resistant fabrics and have an air-cooled system to keep the wearer cool.

Chemical protective suits are used by workers who need to handle hazardous materials. They are made of a variety of materials, depending on the type of chemical they need to protect against.
